Downtown Vancouver recently welcomed the arrival of Paris Baguette, a popular Korean bakery chain known globally for its wide selection of pastries, cakes, and café fare. With its clean aesthetic and modern charm, the location is conveniently walkable from the SkyTrain, making it an easy stop for a snack, a coffee catch-up, or even a place to get a bit of work done.

We dropped by in the late afternoon, and the pastry cases were noticeably sparse. A friendly heads-up—many popular items sell out quickly, so it’s best to come earlier in the day for a full selection. Still, we managed to grab a handful of sweet and savoury options to try.

THE BOAR-OMETER

THREE PIGGIES | Boar-der line.

It’s a solid option, especially if you get there early enough to snag the popular items while they’re still fresh!

Scoresheet

The Pig Pen: FOUR PIGGIES – Cozy, clean, and good for casual hangs or light work.

Oink-credible Bites:  TWO PIGGIES & A PIGLET – Sweets were better than savoury, but overall underwhelming.

Piggy Bank Savings: TWO PIGGIES & A PIGLET – A bit pricey for what it is, but there’s a small discount if you buy in bulk.

THE PIG PEN

The vibe inside Paris Baguette is warm and inviting. With soft lighting, minimalist decor, and a light buzz from people chatting or working on laptops, it strikes a nice balance between café and casual hangout. It's the kind of spot where you can spend an hour catching up with a friend or quietly sip your coffee while getting through your inbox.

Display Case

There’s a good amount of seating for a downtown café, though during busy times it might be hard to snag a table. That said, it feels clean, well-kept, and pleasant for a quick stop or a low-key work session.

OINK-CREDIBLE BITES

To be honest, we were expecting a bit more, especially with all the hype around the international brand. While nothing was bad, the flavour profiles leaned more toward subtle and mild, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea—especially if you’re after bold or rich bakery goods.

Here’s what we tried:

Sticky Milky Bun: Surprisingly good even after two days! Super soft, airy, and had a nice, light sweetness. This was the highlight.

Ham & Cheese Pastry: A bit underwhelming. The pastry was decent, but the filling lacked punch.

Hashbrown Bread: A novelty item that tasted fine but felt more fun than flavorful. I had this the day after and it didn't do so well to be warmed up.

Chausson aux Pommes: Pleasant, but not as buttery or flaky as a traditional French apple turnover.

Almond Pastry: Okay in terms of texture, but could use more almond flavor especially the almond jam in the middle.

King Cream Donut: Loved how fluffy the dough was. It wasn't overly milky nor sweet even though covered with powdered sugar.

The sweet items fared better than the savoury, which is consistent with what others seem to say. There’s definite potential, especially for people who prefer milder flavours or enjoy Korean-style desserts, but it didn’t quite wow us. There were some cakes available by the slice or whole so that might be the one to try next!

PIGGY BANK SAVINGS

Prices here skew on the higher side, especially considering the portion sizes and overall flavour. Expect to pay around $4–$6 per item, which can add up fast if you’re building a box. They do offer a deal if you buy six items, which helps, but it still feels a bit steep for what you’re getting.

That said, the downtown rent is no joke, and the location is central—so a slight markup is expected. Just something to keep in mind if you're popping in for a treat or planning to stock up.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Paris Baguette is a welcome addition to downtown Vancouver for its ambience and branding alone, but the food didn’t fully meet the expectations. It’s a solid spot if you’re nearby and craving something sweet, or if you want a nice place to sit for a while with a drink and pastry.

Would we go out of our way for it? Probably not.

Would we stop by if we’re already in the area? Absolutely.

It’s a solid option, especially if you get there early enough to snag the popular items while they’re still fresh!
