Sooda has reinvented its original location in Burnaby with Porker Face, an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) pork belly BBQ haven. As Sooda shifts its main focus to The Amazing Brentwood, this spin-off restaurant focuses exclusively on delivering a pork belly feast for Korean BBQ enthusiasts. With generous portions, bold flavors, and a fun, pub-style atmosphere, Porker Face is a great addition to Burnaby's dining scene.

THE PIG PEN
Porker Face dials up the energy with its modern, pub-style decor. This is not your traditional Korean BBQ joint with smoky grills and quiet conversations. Instead, it feels more like a vibrant, casual hangout spot perfect for a fun meal with friends or family. The lively atmosphere is complemented by colorful artwork and communal seating that encourages interaction and a sense of community among diners.
Conveniently located near the Brentwood SkyTrain station, Porker Face is easily accessible for those relying on public transportation. This prime location allows guests to enjoy a delicious meal without the hassle of parking, making it an ideal choice for both locals and visitors. Whether you're coming from nearby neighbourhoods or exploring the city, the proximity to transit ensures that a flavourful experience at Porker Face is just a quick ride away.

The layout is spacious and clean, with plenty of seating to accommodate groups. The sizzling sounds and aromas of BBQ add to the lively atmosphere. While it lacks the traditional ambiance of a Korean BBQ house, the contemporary design gives it a fresh and approachable feel. It’s a great spot to enjoy a meal while catching up with loved ones or celebrating small occasions.

The service at Porker Face is attentive and efficient. Staff are quick to refill orders and ensure the grill stays clean, so you can focus on enjoying your meal. They’re friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall positive experience.
OINK-CREDIBLE BITES
The food at Porker Face is the star of the show, and it doesn’t disappoint. The thick-cut samgyupsal (pork belly) is tender, juicy, and bursting with flavour. Grilled to perfection, it strikes the ideal balance between crispy edges and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Since the pork belly is par-cooked already, grilling takes even shorter giving more time to eat!

The meal includes classic Korean BBQ accompaniments: denjang chigae (soybean paste stew), rice, banchan (side dishes), and wrap vegetables. The denjang chigae deserves special mention for its deep, savory flavor that pairs beautifully with the rich pork belly. Each bite of pork, wrapped in a fresh lettuce leaf with a dollop of sauce, is a perfect combination of textures and flavours.

The banchan provides a variety of complementary tastes, from sweet onions to spicy kimchi. For first-timers or seasoned BBQ fans, this setup is a feast for the senses. However, it’s worth noting that from the second serving onward, the soybean paste stew and wrap vegetables are offered at an additional cost. While not a deal-breaker, it does take away some of the value of the AYCE experience.
PIGGY BANK SAVINGS
At $26.99 for lunch and $32.99 for dinner per person, Porker Face is competitively priced for an AYCE Korean BBQ. Given the quality of the pork belly and the variety of sides included, it offers solid value. The 1.5-hour time limit may sound restrictive, but the efficient service and quick grilling process allow you to enjoy a satisfying amount of food within the time frame. Honestly, we were so stuffed by the end and the prices are definitely worth it!

However, the additional cost for more wrap vegetables and soybean paste stew feels a bit steep, especially for those who enjoy a balanced meal with plenty of greens and soup. The wrap vegetables didn't come with much. We were given four leaves for four people. It was basically one wrap each person and to order more, will cost you another $4.99. I would say that the soup is definitely worth it. While it won’t deter most diners, it’s something to keep in mind when planning your visit.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Porker Face by Sooda offers a delicious and hearty Korean BBQ experience that’s hard to resist. The thick-cut pork belly is undoubtedly the highlight, with its rich flavor and perfect texture. The pub-style atmosphere adds a modern twist to the traditional BBQ setup, making it a fun and casual spot for meat lovers.
While the additional costs for extra greens and soup might not appeal to everyone, the overall value remains strong, especially for those who love indulging in unlimited pork belly. It’s an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy a satisfying, no-frills Korean BBQ feast.
